MIUI 9 Leaks with Split Screen PIP and Screen Recorder

Xiaomi successfully rolled out the MIUI 8.2 Update to all the Xiaomi devices. It was not a major update considering the highly customizable android ROM. Now Xiaomi accidentally send a images of MIUI 9 to the app developers. The two images suggest that MIUI 9 will support the split screen and picture-in-picture mode in the next version.

Heart of the Matter

In April, Xiaomi had started a poll on MIUI forum to check the need of split-screen function. Almost 80% of 7000 users responded that they would like the feature to see the daylight.

All the Xiaomi phone running on Android 7.0 Nougat Support the split screen feature. Hence, the feature is expected to hit several Xiaomi phones such as Mi 6, Mi 5c, Mi MIX, Mi Note 2, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi Note 4, Mi 4C, Mi 4S, Mi 5, Mi 5s, Mi 5s Plus. Rumour is that MIUI team is working on bringing the split-screen feature on Xiaomi devices running on Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Screen Recorder feature appeared in the developer edition of MIUI 8. So we can expect that it makes it in the MIUI 9. MIUI 9 will be available sometime in the second half of 2017.
